Inuit Language Plan Template

As part of the implementation of the Inuit Language Protection Act (ILPA), organizations subject to the Act are required to demonstrate how they respect and uphold the linguistic rights of Nunavummiut.

To support this process, we are providing the Inuit Language Plan template. This document enables organizations to:

  • conduct an assessment of their current practices in providing services in Inuktut (signage, reception, advertising, invoicing, etc.).
  • develop concrete measures to improve the accessibility and visibility of the Inuit language.
  • Establish a timeline for the implementation of these measures.
  • outline how the public will be informed about the availability of services in Inuktut.

Once completed, the Inuit Language Plan must be submitted to the Office of the Languages Commissioner of Nunavut, which is responsible for its review and oversight.
